Expressive arts and design

Expressive arts and design (EAD)

Exploring and using media and materials:
This involves using a range of resources, objects and crafts to create and design different things whilst enabling the children to express themselves. Children also express themselves through use of musical instruments, singing and moving to sound. Examples of this include painting, colouring, building blocks, designing and decorating things as well as using different musical objects to create rhythms, sounds and encourage movement. (fast and slow)

Being imaginative:
This involves the children using their imagination in which they can explore, develop and represent ideas, create pieces of their own, and build scenarios during their play which all contribute to their learning and confidence. Examples of this include role play with everyday objects such as kitchen items, telephones and cleaning items etc. It also includes building stories around objects and items and acting out characters and different people.
